The listings here are intended to make the public aware of houses, homesites, property and businesses that become available in close proximity to the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Also, we will list some businesses and attractions that we of the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association think would be nice additions to the amenities we already have. You are welcome to contribute your ideas by e-mail info@raccoonrivervalleytrail.org.

HOME SITE AVAILABLE TRAILSIDE, SOUTH OF JEFFERSON

Located right on the Raccoon River Valley Trail three miles south of Jefferson, is a 3-acre tract of level land. Farmer Bill Limburg has decided the spot is really too small and oddly-shaped to continue farming efficiently, so he's making it available for somebody who might like to build a trailside home or homes. The land is located on the east side of the trail, immediately south of "Winkleman Switch," once the site of a cattle shipping point, now a small parking area for trail users. It is on P Avenue. Contact agent Judy Von Ahsen, Marso-Peckumn Real Estate, Jefferson (515) 386-8156 or (515) 386-2474 or e-mail her vonhaus@netins.net.

TERRIFIC TRAILSIDE BUSINESS LOCATION IN PANORA

A two-year-old, attractive steel building, 40-by-80 feet, is now available in the town of Panora, immediately adjacent to the Raccoon River Valley Trail. The building, which has plenty of windows, is currently the site of two small businesses. It is located on the south side of Iowa Highway 44, and the east side of the RRVT. Across the trail to the west is the popular P.J.'s Drive-In restaurant, a favorite of all trail users. Across the highway to the north is a small shopping mall and the Guthrie County State Bank. It's an ideal location if you want to cater to trail users. Listed price is $214,900. Contact agent Rod Robson, Iowa Realty, (515) 453-5895 or (641) 757-1409 or e-mail him rodrobson@iowarealty.com.

AND, OH, FOR SOME LIVE THEATER IN ONE OF OUR TRAIL TOWNS!

As best we know, the Greene County Community Players in Jefferson -- a good community theater troupe -- is the only one in any of our towns along the Raccoon River Valley Trail doing live productions. But they only have been doing them during the school year. We want to encourage live summer theater in one or more communities along the RRVT. We've looked at buildings that might be convertible in Jefferson, Cooper and Yale, but we're sure there are possibilities in the other communities, too. We think the productions will not only be popular with trail users who are making overnight stays, but also with the big "lake crowd" around Panora in the summertime. Any of you thespians out there want to take us up on this? Have any of you artsy entrepreneurs been wanting to develop your own theater? Be in touch with the RRVT Association at (515) 386-5488 or by e-mail info@raccoonrivervalleytrail.org.
